Atlanta Blood Services (ABS) is committed to providing safe blood components for our community and patients who need this life saving resource.

We work in conjunction with the Blood and Marrow Transplant Group of Georgia (BMTGA) to provide blood components to patients receiving leukemia therapies and undergoing bone marrow or stem cell transplant therapy. We also provide special type blood components to neonatal patients and trauma victims within our community. All the donations made at ABS are provided by our volunteer donors.

Blood is a precious resource and can be separated into several components; therefore you can save more then one life with one donation! The recipients may be cancer or heart patients, accident or burn victims, premature babies or anyone requiring a blood transfusion. By donating blood, you ensure an adequate supply to meet the communities need. Please encourage your friends, relatives and co-workers to donate as there is no substitute for human blood; it can not be artificially manufactured.

Blood supply levels at our community hospitals fluctuates on a daily basis. Everyday in the U.S. approximately 39,000 units of blood are required in hospitals and emergency treatment facilities to treat patients with cancer and other diseases, to support organ transplant recipients, and to help save the lives of accident and trauma victims.

Georgia does not have enough blood donors to sustain demand within the state and must import most of the products used. During the holiday seasons and especially during the summer months, levels tend to fall because donations decline while the demand by patients increases or continues to remain constant. Please partner with ABS to help save lives within our community.
